The opening ceremony of handing over the automation service of the Beddagana Public Library to the right of readers was held on October 6, 2022 at the Beddagana Public Library.

His Worship the Mayor of Kotte Mr. I. M. V. Premalal, Honorable Municipal Councilor Mr. Densil Padmasiri with Municipal Councilors, Municipal Commissioner Mrs. R.A. Shalika S. Ranaweera, Municipal Secretary Mrs. Geethani D. Lokuwella, Municipal Engineer Mrs. W.A.S. Damayanthi and Assistant Municipal Engineer Mr. Ajith Hettiarachchi, Chief Librarian Mr. Sujeeva Fernando, Public Librarians and Public Library staff participated for this occasion.

As a measure to overcome the emerging food crisis as a result of the economic crisis that Sri Lanka is currently facing, Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council has implemented a successful food crop cultivation project in the said premises by effectively utilizing the labor contribution of its employees.

This project has been started under the 'Aharin Sapiri Kolomthotak' program which was started according to a concept of the Colombo District Secretary.

A medical clinic and early cancer detection clinic organized by the Municipal Health Department of Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Municipal Council was held on 09th September 2022 at Nawala Koswatta Siri Siddatharama Temple.

Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Divisional Secretary Mr. Kasun Epa Seneviratne, OIC Welikada Police Station, Kotte Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Shalika S. Ranaweera, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Manoj Rodrigo and a group of honorable municipal councilors joined this occasion.

A sterilization surgery clinic for dogs and cats was held on 2022 September 28 at the Kotte Municipal Council premises on the occasion of World Aquatic Day. This program was organized by Municipal Veterinary Officer Mrs. Ruvini M. S. Pimburage.

As one step to eliminate rabies, it has been scientifically concluded that the infection of dogs and cats should be controlled as the animal groups that have the closest relationship with humans. As a step towards this situation, the Municipal Veterinary Officer said that this clinic was organized in conjunction with the program to eliminate rabies from the Kotte metropolis.

Chief Medical Officer Manoj Rodrigo also joined for this occasion.

A mobile library service organized by Rajagiriya Central Library was held on 20.08.2022 at Victoria House, Rajagiriya.

Mr. Sujeewa Fernando, Chief Librarian of the public libraries belonging to the Kotte Municipal Council, said that this service was started in order to develop the interest of reading and to inculcate the enjoyment of literature among the residents of the home.

The staff of Rajagiriya Central Library joined this event.
